International students who want to study in the United States need to obtain a student visa, also known as an F-1 visa. Here are the steps:
- Apply to Student and Exchange Visitor Program(SEVP) approved school to obtain I-20 form.
- Pay Student and Exchange Visitor Information System (SEVIS) fee.
- Students must complete the DS-160 application for a nonimmigrant visa online and upload a photo.

International students who are studying full-time on an F-1 visa are generally eligible to work part-time on-campus while they are enrolled in school. International students can work on-campus up to 20 hours per week while school is in session and up to 40 hours per week during school breaks. To be eligible for on-campus employment, students must maintain their F-1 status and be enrolled in a SEVP-certified school.

Work after graduate
